Ivan Brugere

I am a second year PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at UIC and an ESP-IGERT associate. Before joining UIC, I received my M.S. in computer science from the University of Minnesota.









Research Interests

My research experience has been in the area of data mining for ecological monitoring and time series event-detection (with the GOPHER group at UMN). My M.S. thesis focused on efficient similarity search for time series subsequences in massive spatiotemporal datasets, on interactive runtime scales.

My current research is on spatiotemporal social network analysis. I am interested in spatiotemporal data mining methods related to surveillance and privacy concerns of fine-grained location-based services. I am part of the the Laboratory for Computational Population Biology at UIC.
