ESP-IGERT is a two-year interdisciplinary program for PhD students at UIC that integrates technological, legal, enterprise and public policy perspectives in electronic security and privacy education and training. Students joining the program will gain deep and wide knowledge not only on how to detect threats and implement effective IT defenses and strategies, but also on how to understand the laws covering security and privacy, security standards and practices that industry and government entities must adhere to, business aspects that drive enterprises in adopting or discarding security solutions, privacy in health care, social networks, and much more. In addition, IGERT students have the opportunity to complete two internships with our industry partners. ESP-IGERT is funded by an NSF grant that provides students with a stipend of $30.000 a year plus tuition and fee waivers.
